How do I get driver’s permit in Mississippi ?

If you have never had a driver’s license before, you must apply for a Mississippi learner’s permit (instruction permit). This requires that you pass a written exam on safe driving techniques, traffic signs and motor vehicle laws. After you get the learner’s permit, you must pass a vision test and a road skills test to get a provisional driver’s license in Mississippi.

Before taking the road skills test, applicants under the age of 18 must hold a learner’s permit for 6 months, have 30 hours (10 of which are at night) of supervised driving, and complete a driver’s education program.

How do I prepare for the Mississippi permit test?

You are encouraged to study for this exam so that you can obtain your learner’s permit as soon as you reach the required age.
