When an emergency vehicle approaches you with its flashing lights or siren on, you must pull over to the right edge of the road, no matter which direction the emergency vehicle is traveling in. (In North Carolina, there is one exception: You don't have to pull over if you're on the opposite side of a divided highway with at least four lanes.)
