Who needs a driver license in Delaware?
On the Delaware public highways, anybody who operates a motor vehicle of any kind.
Which documents do I need to apply for a driver license in Delaware?

Proof of date of birth, social security number, and principal place of residence are all necessary to complete the application process.
In order to be legitimate, documents must be presented in their original or confirmed form.
Can undocumented immigrants apply for a Delaware driver's license?
Unauthorized immigrants may get a Delaware driver's license if they present the proper papers. A valid foreign passport or consular identification, as well as evidence of domicile, are required for applicants. As soon as a person becomes eligible to apply for legalization, they should do so.
What is the difference between a compliant and a non-compliant Delaware driver license?
A "Non-Compliant Driver License" grants the license holder the proper driving authorization, but it does not comply with the standards set by the Secretary of Homeland Security.. In order to fly domestically, access government institutions, and perform other federal functions, a driver's license must be compliant.

What is the age requirement to apply for a driver's license in Delaware?
To get a driver's license in Delaware, you must be at least 18 years old. You may get a Level One Learner's Permit via the Graduated Driver License (GDL) program if you're at least 16 years old but not quite 18.

Who can be my sponsor for the GDL in Delaware?
If you don't live with your parents, your legal guardian or your father or mother.
Which authority does the sponsor have?
At any moment throughout the GDL program, your sponsor might revoke their support for you. You and your sponsor are both accountable for any harm caused by your careless driving.
Do I have any restrictions when driving with my Level One Learner's Permit?
Yes:
The law requires that you use a safety belt at all times;
Cell phones, text messaging devices, and similar electronic devices are prohibited.
Only one other passenger and an adult supervisor may accompany you in the vehicle;
Who can be my supervisor when I am under mandatory supervision?
Parents, guardians, or licensed drivers who have been authorized by the sponsor as a chaperone. You must sit next to your supervisor in the automobile.
How long do I have to be supervised while driving with my Learner's Permit?
You must be monitored at all times for the first six months. It's required that you spend a minimum of 50 hours under supervision while driving (including at least 10 nighttime driving). You may drive alone between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. for the first six months after passing your test.
When can I convert my Level One Learner's Permit to a Class D driver license?
After completing the GDL program for a year.
I am a first applicant over age 18. Do I have to apply for a Level One Learner's Permit?
Obtaining a Temporary Instruction Permit (also known as a Learner's Permit) is an option instead.
What do I have to do to obtain a Learner's Permit?
Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
Achieve a passing score on the eye and knowledge tests.
Pay the fee that is due.
I have a valid Learner's Permit. How can I obtain a Delaware driver's license?
Pass the road test after holding your Learner's Permit for a minimum of 10 days. You may drive for six months with your Learner's Permit.
Do I have any restrictions while driving with my Delaware Learner's Permit?
Yes. You can only drive if you have a licensed driver over the age of 21 sitting next to you in the vehicle.

There are 30 questions in all, 10 of which are indicators.
What is the score required to pass the DE knowledge test?
At least 24 of the questions have to be answered properly for you to pass
What kind of questions are on the Delaware knowledge test about?
These subjects are included in the test: highway signs, traffic signals, pavement marking rules and regulations, motor vehicle legislation and safe driving practices.

Do I have to make a reservation to take the road test in Delaware?
Yes, you may arrange your road test by contacting the DMV.
What do I need to bring to my road test?
The vehicle's registration card must be valid.
The car's insurance card must be valid.

You'll be on the road for around 30 minutes.

Can I drive alone to the DMV office to take the road test?
No, you must have a licensed driver over the age of 21 with you at all times.
Do I have to provide a motor vehicle for the road test?
Yes. Registration and a safety inspection by the Department of Motor Vehicles are a requirement. Registration and liability insurance are a requirement, and you must present evidence of both.
Am I allowed to use parking assist technology during the road test?
No.
I failed my road test. When can I retake it?
After a period of at least ten days has passed.
