You are considered a resident of Florida if you:
spend more than six months in Florida at a time.
become a registered voter in Florida

I just moved to Florida and have a valid license from another state. What do I need to do?
After moving to Florida, you have 30 days to get a driver's license.
I am a non-resident and have a valid non-commercial driver license from another state. Do I need a Florida driver license?
A valid driver's license from another state or territory in the United States is sufficient for non-residents to drive in Florida.
I am a non-resident and have a valid non-commercial driver license from another country. Do I need a Florida license?
There is no need for a Florida driver's license for non-residents who have an International Driving Permit from their home country and a valid license from their home country.
I am a non-resident attending college in Florida. Do I need a Florida driver license?
The answer is no. You may drive in Florida with a valid driver's license from another state.
I live in another state and travel regularly between home and work in Florida. Do I need a Florida driver license?
No, as long as you have a current license from your home state.
Do non-resident migrant farm workers need a Florida driver license?
Non-resident migrant agricultural workers do not require a Florida license even if they work in Florida or enroll their children in a Florida public school as long as they have a valid license from their home state.
Do members of the Armed Forces stationed in Florida and their dependents need a Florida driver license?

On official business, federal government personnel who have a valid driver's license from another state or nation do not require a Florida driver's license.
I’m a non-resident working for a firm on a contract for the United States government. Do I need a Florida license?
No. There is a 60-day time limit on this exemption.
I am applying for a Florida license. What tests do I need to take?
A vision, hearing, and Class E knowledge exam is required of anybody seeking for a learner's permit or class E license. Candidates for renewal must pass a vision and hearing examination.
What is required to get a learner’s driver license in Florida?

How many questions are on the Florida DMV test?
In order to pass the DMV written exam, you must choose the correct answer to each of 50 multiple-choice questions on traffic laws and road signs. You must properly answer at least 40 of the questions to pass the exam (80 percent).
Are driver's permit and learner's license the same thing?
Yes. A learner's permit, learner's license, limited license, or provisional license may also be referred to as a driver's permit.
I hold a Florida learner’s license. When can I drive?
When a trainee driver is in the front passenger seat, they must be accompanied at all times by a licensed driver over the age of 21. First-time drivers are restricted to driving only in daylight for the first three months after receiving their license. You may drive from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day when the first three months are over.
I lost my license / My license was stolen. What do I need to do?
Submit an application for a replacement as soon as possible. Replacing your lost or stolen card is as simple as going to www.GoRenew.com or a local field issuance office.
How much does a replacement license cost?
There is a $25 charge for a new license. As long as the card hasn't been altered, the replacement price is waived if the card was stolen and a copy of the police report is provided. A replacement cost of $25 is levied when the card is altered.
I am under 18. How can I get a Motorcycle Only License in Florida?
If you've held a learner's license for at least 12 months or until you are 18, you may apply for a driver's license.
A learner's permit cannot be issued to someone who has had a traffic offense conviction within the last year.
The completion of an authorized motorcycle safety course is a must.
I am over 18. How can I get a Motorcycle Only License in Florida?
Either you have a valid learner's permit or you have passed the vision and Class E knowledge examinations..
An out-of-state motorcycle-only license or evidence of completion of an authorized motorcycle safety course are also required (except Alabama).
How do I request a motorcycle endorsement in Florida?
To get a Motorcycle Also License you must:
have or be able to get a driver's license with at least a Class E rating.
A motorcycle safety course, Basic Rider Course, or an out-of-state motorcycle license must be provided in order to get a motorcycle permit in this state (except Alabama).
My address has changed. What do I need to do?
If you move to Florida, you must apply for a new driver's license within ten days.
What is a Mature Driver Insurance Course?
To help senior drivers stay up to speed on Florida traffic rules and learn how to adjust their driving behaviors to suit aging, there is a special driving school in the state. It is possible to get a discount on car insurance premiums for senior drivers who complete certain courses.
