Most accidents that happen on the road can be avoided. They are caused by poor driving decisions and mistakes in judgement. Here are ten causes of vehicle accidents.
1) Driving Too Fast For Conditions
Many people simply don’t slow down enough when it’s raining outside or snowing. For and other visibility issues can cause accidents if you don’t reduce your speed. When the road conditions aren’t favorable you should slow down and proceed with caution as your reaction to stop in poor road conditions is reduced which often leads to accidents.
2) Proceeding without Clearance After You Stop
Lights are there for a reason and if you proceed on a red light you’re just asking for an accident. Even if the road seems completely clear a car can come out of nowhere and you can be involved in an accident. Never proceed without clearance at lights or other intersection until the light has changed or it’s clear for you to move. When at a corner do the same thing, wait until it’s clear.
3) Improper or Careless Turner
Never go around a corner quickly or without taking care to make the turn properly. Turning required you to slow down to make the turn. Wait until it’s clear and then make your turn. If you rush and try to take the turn too fast you can lose control and cause an accident.
4) Improper Driving
When you are at the wheel of your vehicle you need to take care when driving. Looking out the window at your side or otherwise not paying attention to the road can cause accidents. Trying to do cute tricks to impress people such as donuts or other maneuvers can cause accidents. Drive with care and obey the rules of the road since they are there for your safety.
Don’t get behind the wheel of motor vehicle until you have been trained to operate one. Going for a joy-rid might seem like fun but this can turn into instant tragedy. Operating a vehicle takes experience and it’s a huge responsibility. Get the training before you go onto the road.
Driving too close behind someone isn’t recommended as you don’t have the room to stop yourself if they stop suddenly such as at a light or in heavy traffic. Give yourself room behind a vehicle and never travel too close.
One of the leading causes of accident sis needless speed. Obey the speed limit on roads. If you keep to the speed limit you could just save your life. When you speed you lower your reaction time and you can easily lose control of your vehicle at high speeds.
8) Over or Under Compensating at a Curve
Going around a curve takes patience and skill. You can’t go to fast around any curve as you have limited visibility around curves. Be sure to be aware when going around a curve to avoid accidents.
Don’t let distractions get in the way of your driving. Never drive and text on your cellphone as you’re driving. Keep your eyes on the road at all times and don’t let distraction take way from your concentration
10) Sudden Slowing or Stopping
Never stop suddenly or slow down when you should be going fast such as on a highway. If you slow down too suddenly you won’t give the driver behind you enough time to react and they may hit you from behind. Try to keep a steady sped and slow down gradually when you need to.
Remember – You can avoid accidents if you take care on the road. We can all drive safely and responsibly and give the automobile our fullest attention because our lives depend upon it.
